Climbing in Gerlos in the Zillertal
Climbing is becoming a sports trend - in Gerlos, you can climb to your heart's content on the high ropes course, on the climbing tower in Gerlos, in the Riederklamm climbing garden, or on the popular Gerlosstein via ferrata on the Hainzenberg. Gerlos in the Zillertal Arena is the perfect vacation spot for amateur climbers and ambitious mountaineers.
Over 450 m of steel cable, 300 handholds, 230 rope clamps, 150 drilled anchors, and a few other things are included in the Alpine via ferrata on the Gerlossteinwand. This via ferrata was built by the Zell am Ziller mountain rescue with blood, sweat, and plenty of hard work. The Alpine via ferrata is a sports offer that brings active, nature-loving people of all ages closer to the breathtaking, rugged alpine world.
With the right equipment and a good technique, climbing on a via ferrata route is possible for anyone: secured by a steel cable from start to finish, you will climb using man-made handholds and rungs combined with natural handholds along a steep rock face.
